Due to consistent growth, Safe I.S. Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Fire Extinguisher Servicing Engineer.

Job Description

We are offering a permanent role for a Fire Extinguisher Engineer to carry out Maintenance & Remedials in properties accross London and the South East.

No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided, giving you a qualification in “Servicing & Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers” – all fully funded. The role is full time, 40 hours Per Week, Monday to Friday, and requires an ambitious and driven individual looking for a long-term career opportunity.

In the event of a fire, fire extinguishers are normally the first thing people will look for to tackle the fire meaning they not only prevent fires from spreading but they can also allow a person to safely evacuate an area. Therefore, ensuring a fire extinguisher operates when needed, is absolutely vital and the only way to ensure this is regular maintenance and servicing.

The role compromises of servicing, maintaining, replacing, and installing new fire extinguishers, in properties ranging from Hotels, Care Homes, Race Courses, Offices, and Shops, to ensure every Fire Extinguisher we maintain is in working order, in compliance with the relevant safety standards, in the right location and ready for action should it be required.

All work equipment, PPE and uniform to complete the role is provided as well as a company vehicle for business use.You will be supported by an in-house, office-based team, you will be provided with a dedicated team leader who will take care of all your administration, travel planning and job organisation, enabling you to simply focus and complete your daily tasks to the best of your ability. You will also form part of our team of skilled Engineers who provide a network of support and a positive working environment.

What you're looking for in us:

  • £20,000 - £22,000 per annum basic pay (increasing to £22,000 to £24,000 upon successfully passing probation) plus uncapped bonus (Estimated in the region of £2000 to £5000 per annum), plus overtime opportunities (Saturday 1.5 x time, Sundays 2 x time however overtime is not a requirement of the role)

What we are looking for in you:

  • (Desired but not required) Previous experience as a Fire Extinguisher engineer is preferred. Training will be provided if there is no previous experience in a similar role.

  • (Desired but not required) Previous confirmation of completion of the FIA SERVICING & MAINTENANCE OF PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS or BAFE Registration. Training will be provided if this course has not been previously completed.

  • Good time management skills - to ensure you work to the scheduled timescales agreed with the Customer

  • Good writing skills - to complete Work Report Sheets, Checklists and Certification accurately and Clearly

  • Customer focus and effective interpersonal skills - to always put our customers' safety needs first and offer a personal approach

  • Acute attention to detail - to investigate complex faults, and identify if the customer requires additional products and services to enhance their safety.

  • Have a full UK Driving Licence and the ability and experience of driving in congested areas (such a London).

Further Career Progression:

Opportunities for development into other engineering specialties are available as part of the development plan from this role, if you so wish, however, this is not necessary and growth is career development is available in the role as it is described. However, if alternative engineering specialties are of longer-term interest, this includes progression into Fire Alarm, Emergency Lighting and security engineering roles, with varying career progression opportunities available to maintenance, installation and or team leader roles. Engineers previously undertaking this role have progressed into other areas within the business, hence the reason for this career opening.
