Public house fire safety equipment maintenance

Expert Fire Extinguisher Servicing for Public Houses and Licensed Venues

Safe I.S. delivers structured fire extinguisher servicing designed specifically for the operational demands of pubs and licensed venues. Our engineers understand the realities of busy trading hours, cellar storage, food preparation areas and entertainment spaces. During each visit, extinguishers undergo detailed, multi-point servicing checks including pressure verification, inspection of safety components, assessment of internal and external condition, confirmation of correct mounting, review of signage and checks for accessibility and visibility to ensure ongoing compliance.

Public houses operate in environments where kitchens, cellars, bars, storage rooms and customer areas all present different fire risks. Cooking equipment, electrical installations, decorative features and high occupancy levels, particularly during evenings and weekends, require fire protection measures that remain dependable at all times. Fire extinguishers must be correctly positioned, suitable for the risks present and maintained to perform effectively if required.

Safer Public Houses With BAFE SP101 Accredited Services

Safe I.S. holds BAFE SP101 third-party accreditation for fire extinguisher servicing and maintenance within public houses and licensed venues. This certification provides independent verification that our technicians are competent, our servicing methods are controlled and our quality systems are externally assessed.

BAFE SP101 Accreditation: Independent Assurance for Licensed Premises

BAFE is the UK’s independent registration body for third-party certificated fire protection companies and maintains a national register of approved providers. For licensees, pub owners and responsible persons, appointing a BAFE-registered company demonstrates due diligence and provides reassurance that fire extinguisher servicing is delivered professionally and in line with recognised industry standards.

FAQs About Fire Extinguisher Servicing for Public Houses

Do you have questions about servicing your fire extinguishers? See some of our most frequently asked questions and answers below.

Portable fire extinguishers should be serviced at least once every 12 months by a competent person in accordance with BS 5306-3. Annual servicing helps confirm units remain operational, appropriate for kitchen and bar risks and compliant with fire safety legislation.

Each extinguisher typically takes between three and five minutes to service. The overall duration depends on the number of units and the layout of the premises, with visits planned to minimise disruption to trading.

Quotations include standard service consumables required under British Standards. If additional work is identified, it is clearly explained and agreed before proceeding.

Safe I.S. delivers fire extinguisher servicing across the UK under the same BAFE SP101 accredited framework, ensuring consistent professional standards wherever your venue is located.

Servicing includes inspection of pressure levels, valves, seals, discharge mechanisms, physical condition, mounting position, visibility and accessibility. Refills or component replacements are completed where required to maintain compliance.

We service portable fire extinguishers ranging from 1kg to 20kg, including CO₂, foam, water including water mist and water additive, powder including ABC and Class D, and wet chemical. Fire blankets are also included within our servicing provision.
