Emergency lighting is required in both commercial and residential developments to provide lighting to facilitate escape in the event of a power failure, if it fails to operate correctly it could leave you in the dark.

At SAFE I.S. Ltd, we understand the importance of emergency lighting and offer comprehensive maintenance services to ensure that your system is always in optimal condition. Our team of experienced technicians will carry out regular inspections, testing and maintenance to identify and fix any faults or issues with your emergency lighting system, ensuring you have peace of mind that should you ever need it, your emergency lighting system will work.

What is emergency lighting?

Emergency lighting could be seen as one of the most important systems put in place to protect people in your property. It is installed to illuminate high traffic or at-risk areas in the event of a power cut (such as escape routes, high-risk areas, signage and fire safety equipment).

In the event of a power cut, the emergency lighting is designed to automatically illuminate ensuring these at-risk areas are well illuminated allowing evacuation of the building and SAFE I.S. service offerings ensure they work as required when needed most.

Keeping the building occupants safe is obviously a high priority, so in an emergency, we make sure that you have an emergency lighting system that will not fail by regularly maintaining your systems in compliance with BS5266.

No Rolling Contracts

All of our agreements are renewable by mutual consent. We will contact you when your contract is due for renewal, provide you with a quotation and we are confident you will choose to renew with us due to our previous customer service and competitive price.

Emergency Lighting Maintenance Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):

Our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)section is designed to help you with your Emergency Lighting Maintenance queries, however, please feel free to contact us if you would like more detailed information or your question is not listed.

When Emergency Lighting is installed & deemed to be necessary, in any type of building, then you have a duty under legislation to ensure the system is maintained, otherwise, this is a breach of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Quote from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005:

"Section 17 - Maintenance:

(1) Where necessary in order to safeguard the safety or relevant persons the Responsible Person must ensure that the premises and any facilities, equipment and devices provided in respect of the premises under this order.. are subject to a suitable system of maintenance and be maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair."

The word "must" in this section of the legislation means that is obligatory, failure to comply with this is an offence.

Emergency Lighting must be drained for a 3 hour period as per the requirements of British Standards.

Therefore, the minimum time requirement would be around 3.5 hours, with 30 minutes allowed to set up the test and report the findings.

However, the time actually spent on site will be dependant on the number of fittings on-site and during the quotation stage, we will provide an indication as to the total time it would take to complete the visit.

The information provided in the FAQ's section was correct at the time of writing. Although we always strive to keep this up to date, legislation/standards are frequently updated. This section should not be used as legal guidance and or reference.

If you have any questions which are not covered above, please get in touch, let us know and we will be happy to assist.
