Goals4Gosh 2023: And the total raised is.....

Bank Holiday Monday, 29th May 2023, Crystal Palace Football Club was the place the be. As you may already know, Safe I.S. Ltd chosen charity partner this year is Goals4Gosh.

For those of you who do not know Goals4Gosh is raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital children’s charity and is the brainchild of an employee from our friends at Funeral Partners Jamie and his close friend Charlotte. They have already raised a staggering £63,000 from previous events and we await excitedly to see what 2023's events have raised.

Goals4Gosh, an annual sports extravaganza, brings together celebrities, ex-professional football players, and sponsors in a whirlwind day of football and fundraising. The 2023 edition took the event to new heights, with over 150 players gracing the hallowed Crystal Palace Football Club turn, with high energy and intense competitions taking place throughout the day.

We are so pleased to announce the total raised from the 2023 event is.... Drum roll please....

We are so proud to play a small part in this amazing event and we can not wait for next year's event.

So, about the day:

Safe I.S. had a team of amazing volunteers supporting the event, the day began at 7am. This included setting up the changing rooms, organising the displays, setting up stands, clearing the pitch, ensuring the games kicked off on time, and just generally assisting with the event.

Come 11am, and the TikTok Tournament started. 8 teams, of 8/9 player squads, battled it out to win the coveted trophy. The Safe I.S. team entered as strong favorites, having won last year's trophy, so the pressure was well and truly on. Although they lost a game in the group stages, Safe I.S. Athletic went on to win the final convincingly at 3-1 and lift the coveted trophy.

Come 3pm, it was time for the AllStars tournament, another fantastic event, another competitive tournament that entertained the crowds. It was won by Tammer Hassans Earthquake Appeal, another fantastic charity, of which more information can be found here.

After the completion of the AllStars tournament, it was time for the big event, 6.30pm came and it was time for the Celebrity 11 a side football match between Palace Eagles (sponsored by Safe I.S.) and Crystal Kangaroos. Gracing the field were ex-pros such as Anton Ferdinand, Wayne Routledge, Lianne Sanderson, Jay Bothroyd, Fara Williams and Celebrities such as Yung Filly, Dave, Junior Andre, Ron Hall, Richard Jones to name but a few.

The first half was a very tight affair, ending at 1-1 but the game came to life in the second half with goals galore. The Crystal Kangaroos taking the lead via a penalty in the 88th minute to make it 3-2, and some of the fans thought it was all over, until the Palace Eagles made an impressive comeback, and ended up winning the game 5-3, our very own Sales Director, Liam Peskett, getting on the scoresheet.

Not only had Safe I.S. athletic won the TikTok Tournament, the Palace Eagles the team we sponsored in the 11aside game had also taken their chance to lift the trophy, winning the double. So, in 2022 and 2023, Safe I.S. has now won the double! The Double Double as we now call it.

Whilst the event and the football were of the highest quality and entertainment, in reality, it's not the most important part of the day. Once again, a fantastic amount was raised in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. The mission of Goals4GOSH is to use the power of football to raise awareness of G.O.S.H’s incredible work and help fund the vital research, equipment, and facilities that are needed to treat critically ill children. An incredible charity that is unquestionably close to our hearts at Safe I.S. Ltd. We are extremely proud to sponsor such a fantastic event, it was our pleasure to not only sponsor but to have volunteers help for the day, and we can not wait to do it all again next year (although there is a bit of pressure on the Safe I.S. teams as it waits to be seen if they can meet the high expectations they have set and win the double again next year!).

Whilst the final fundraising total is counted and confirmed, there is still time to donate, so please feel free to visit their just-giving page here.
