Jack Springford Seeks Re-election to the FIA Fire Risk Assessment Council

Liam Peskett | 09th October 2026

At SAFE I.S., we're proud to announce that our Lead Fire Risk Assessor, Jack Springford, is standing for re-election to the Fire Industry Association (FIA) Fire Risk Assessment Council.

Jack has been an important part of SAFE I.S. for many years, helping to develop our fire risk assessment services, supporting our team and continually raising the standards we work to.

His decision to stand for re-election reflects his commitment not only to SAFE I.S. and our customers, but also to improving standards across the wider fire safety industry.

A key figure at SAFE I.S.

With over 10 years of experience in the fire safety sector and professional credentials from the IWFM, IFSM and City & Guilds, Jack brings a wealth of technical knowledge and practical experience to his role.

As our Lead Fire Risk Assessor, his responsibilities go far beyond carrying out assessments.

Jack plays a vital role in training and developing our fire risk assessors, reviewing and validating assessments to maintain consistency and quality, and ensuring our internal processes and procedures continue to improve.

He's always looking at how we can work smarter, improve our services and deliver better outcomes for our customers.

Jack has also been instrumental in SAFE I.S. achieving and maintaining important third-party accreditations and certifications, including BAFE, NSI Gold and, most recently, Bluesky Certification for Fire Door Inspection.

These achievements require considerable work behind the scenes, from reviewing procedures and developing documentation to ensuring our teams demonstrate the necessary competence.

It's this attention to detail and commitment to improvement that makes Jack such an important part of our business.

What is the FIA Fire Risk Assessment Council?

The Fire Industry Association (FIA) is one of the leading organisations representing the UK fire protection industry.

Its Fire Risk Assessment Council consists of 15 elected members from FIA member companies of different sizes, giving businesses across the sector a voice in discussions that shape the industry.

The Council represents the interests of organisations providing fire risk assessment services and contributes to several important areas, including:

The Council provides an opportunity for experienced professionals to share knowledge, discuss challenges and contribute to the future direction of fire risk assessment in the UK.

Why does Jack's involvement matter?

Fire safety is an industry where standards, competence and accountability really matter.

Fire risk assessments play a critical role in identifying hazards, protecting building occupants and helping responsible persons understand the measures required to manage fire risk.

Having experienced professionals involved in industry discussions helps ensure that practical knowledge from those delivering fire risk assessments is represented.

For Jack, being part of the Council provides an opportunity to contribute his experience, take part in discussions around developing standards and professional competence, and help support improvements across the industry.

That commitment is something we also see every day at SAFE I.S.

Whether he's mentoring another assessor, reviewing an assessment, introducing an improved procedure or helping us achieve another certification, Jack is constantly looking for ways to raise the bar.

His involvement with the FIA reflects the same approach on a wider industry level.

Jack's Words:

After two years on the FIA Fire Risk Assessment Council, I’m pleased to be standing for re-election.

During that time, I’ve contributed to the Council’s collective work on reviewing standards, developing a standard scope of services for fire risk assessment, and exploring assessor competency, apprenticeships and routes into the profession.

It’s been a privilege to work alongside colleagues committed to improving standards, bringing my practical experience of fire risk assessment, validation and quality management to those discussions.

I’d welcome the opportunity to continue this work and would appreciate your support.

Supporting Jack's re-election

We're extremely proud of the contribution Jack makes to SAFE I.S. and the wider fire safety industry.

His technical expertise, dedication to developing others and determination to continually improve standards have helped shape the business we are today.

We fully support Jack in his campaign for re-election to the FIA Fire Risk Assessment Council and hope he has the opportunity to continue contributing to the important work it carries out.

From everyone at SAFE I.S., we wish Jack the very best of luck with his re-election.
